Meet our reliable and enthusiastic not-so-little herd!

Some of our horses are most comfortable on winding trails, while others just love to teach the kids how to ride in our indoor or outdoor arena. Some like to teach lessons to beginners and some prefer to tear around barrels... see why we need so many horses? Laughing

Some end up not liking being handled and/or ridden by many different people or they simply don't thrive in a large herd. For those horses, we find better suited homes.

Please bear with us as we update this page. There have been lots of changes in our lineup!

Breed: Registered Paint

Colour: Paint

Registered Name: My Macho Sensational

A little bit about me:

Bubbles was purchased to be a camp horse for children, however in the summer of 2017 Kyla found herself without a horse to work on for reining and like that Bubbles was her new project! Bubbles had had the least amount of training and so she took him on, and over time she very quickly realized what an amazing young horse she had on her hands. Bubbles is talented, he is quiet, he is gentle, he loves people, and there is not a malicious bone in his body. Bubbles is easy to ride and he is very quickly becoming one of the most advanced riding horses at Honora Bay Riding Stable. Bubbles is genuinely talented and is schooling in reining and he loves every second of it. He is also fantastic at trail rides because he is one brave boy and tries really hard to please his rider. We hope you'll come say hello to Bubbles this summer!

A little bit about me:

I'm a flashy little thing, and I can't see a camera without posing for the perfect picture. I love to take out first time riders, I make sure they have a good time! When I'm not keeping trail riders safe, I'm in the arena teaching. Teaching tiny humans is one of my favorite things to do.

Breed: Appaloosa

Colour: Leopard Spotted Appaloosa

I joined the herd in the summer of 2016 and I’ve been a favorite ever since. I love taking care of new riders. They can trust me while they’re figuring things out, I make them feel safe. That’s probably why I’m perfect for obstacle challenges. I try my best to do what they ask me to, even if it’s scary. I don’t just teach lessons, though. I love a good trail ride!

Breed: Quarter Horse

Color: Strawberry Roan

A little bit about me:

I've been at HRBS since March 2015, and I'm already one of my mom's favorites. She thinks I was an orphan, and that I was raised by humans. This means I don't really have any horsey friends, but I love to snuggle with people! I'm always first to come when she calls, sometimes I'm even waiting at the gate for her.

I can do some tricks. I've gotten really good at laying down, I even let my mom sit on me while I stand up.

I get really anxious with strangers riding me, so currently I am only ridden by my mom, but I love the long distance trail rides the best. I am not keen on going slow and I found out this fall that I am a natural "cowgirl". Mom loved my enthusiasum and obedience during the fall cow round up. I thought that ride was one of the best ones this year.

Breed: Appaloosa

Colour: Leopard Spotted Appaloosa

A little bit about me:

Mom says I'm a real character with a lot of heart! I've got very small eyes which make me stand out, and a gorgeous flowing mane that I love to have groomed and braided. I came to Honora Bay Riding Stable with my mummy in early 2018. I was not an easy horse to ride when I got here - I had a lot of confidence issues, but with a lot of hard work and training Kyla is teaching me to be a great mount for our more advanced riders in the summer. I'm what you'd call an "in-your-pocket horse," I loooove people. I look forward to meeting y'all this summer!

Breed: Quarter Horse

Colour: Black

A little bit about me:

I came to HBRS in the spring of 2017 and there was lots of me to love! I was a very overweight little horse but I quickly won the heart of Halie (one of the staff members here) and she has worked really hard to try and keep me in tip top shape! We go on all sorts of adventures and have done lots of clinics and lessons together. You can definitely tell that I’m her favourite and I am no doubt spoiled with attention and love! Out on the trails I am quiet as ever; nothing phases me at all, which makes me extremely safe for beginners and children. I’m loving my new job and life here at the stable and I’ll be waiting to take you out on our beautiful trails this summer!

Breed: Arabian x Quarter Horse

Colour: Palomino with a blaze

A little bit about me:

I was born in the summer of 2004 and quickly became the barn mascot, greeting everyone who came to ride or visit. I've grown up now but I'm still very curious and still love people. Kyla thinks that I'm a super smart horse. She's right, of course!

Breed: Australian Shepherd x Border Collie

Colour: Black, tan and grey

A little bit about me:

I know, I know! You're thinking I'm not a horse - but I may as well be! If I could only talk, I'd be guiding the trails all by myself; I tag along on all rides and know every trail like the back of my paw!

I'm Kyla's best friend and companion and I'm also a great barn mascot. I love to greet everyone and don't even mind entertaining the kids. I enjoy attention, so please stop and pet me when you're out here visiting.

Color: Amber Champagne

Breed: Quarter Horse

A little about me:

I would like to mention why my name is Ongi:

The Niagara Falls were called "Onguiaahra" by the Natives and as I am white with the brownish mane and tail I look like a "Thunder of Water". My breeder was a childhood friend from Switzerland of my new moms and symbolizes the journey she did with her horse Angel along the Bruce Trail.

I came to HRBS in December of 2015 and I've already proven that I'm going to be an amazing little horse! I'm kind of special because of my coloring, it's very rare, there aren't a lot of Amber Champagne horses around.

Hopefully, in the summer of 2017 I will start my show career in reining.

Breed: Belgian X Quarter

Colour: Sorrel with a star and hind stockings

A little bit about me:

I arrived at Honora Bay Riding Stable almost 300lbs overweight, but I have worked hard to control my weight and I look amazing now!

I am a delight to ride with a very soft, smooth gait and an easy going personality.  Around here they call me the Mercedes-Benz of the stable and a great kids horse, despite my size. I also love vaulting - it's my hidden talent.

I am one of our steadiest trail horses and I am well loved by the summer camp kids.

Breed: Quarter Horse x

Colour: Black

A little bit about me:
I am Kyla's special boy! I am the male herd boss and although I may be small I am in charge of all the other horses.  But with people I am very sweet and gentle enough for children to ride. However, Kyla keeps me almost always for herself to ride.

I love being ridden bareback and bridleless and I'm hoping Kyla and I will compete in this year's summer games as such.

Breed: Quarter Horse

Color: Black with a blaze

A little bit about me:

I came to HBRS in the spring of 2016 and participated in the first annual Colts for Autism. I was really scared of people when I got here. It took a staff member 2 hours to catch me one day. She was REALLY scary! I'm getting used to people now, though. I'm actually a very big snuggler. Hope to see you on the trails soon!

Breed: Pony

Colour: Black

A little bit about me:

Cute, cute, cute… I know I am cute! What do I do, you ask? Well I am way too small for adults so, my job is to take the little ones out on pony rides. I am also a part of the summer camp for the tiny students that can’t ride the big horses. I have the most important job!

Breed: Quarter Horse

Colour: Sorrel with a blaze and hind stockings

A little bit about me:
I am the stable's Cadillac! That's why I get to go to weddings and such.

I am a versatile, easy going horse and just about anyone can ride me.  I also enjoy competing in local western gaming events, teaching kids how to ride in riding lessons and I am one of our most popular trail horses.  You will surely see me when you visit Honora Bay Riding Stable!

Breed: Quarter Horse

Colour: Grey

A little bit about me:
I am a registered AQHA mare. I have managed to crawl into Kyla's heart because I am honest and true and want to do everything right. I have lots of energy and am very kind - a great package all rolled into a beautiful grey body. Like most greys, my color has changed pretty dramatically over the years. I am now doing lessons for some of the advanced riders, and I go on most of the trail rides. I must say I am really enjoying myself!

Breed: Quarter horse

Colour: Palomino

A little bit about me:

BIG!!! That is the first word that comes to mind when people look at me, but the ones who really know me know I'm a gentle giant. I am very willing to learn. The first time I had a saddle on I also had a rider, and we did walk trot and canter in BOTH directions. Most horses usually only get to the saddle part before they need a break, but I'm a bit of a show off. I'm hoping I'll be able to show off to you this summer, make sure you stop by!

Breed: Quarter Horse x

Colour: Dun with a blaze and four black legs

A little bit about me:

Born in a massive thunderstorm, I made a grand entrance into life in 2005.  I am now a big, solid, muscular boy. And, if I do say so myself, I've turned into quite the charmer. All the ladies call me Handsome Ransom. I like to woo anyone that comes to HBRS, making me the perfect choice for a trail ride. You'll often see me on overnight rides, too.

Breed: Quarter Horse

Color: Red Dun

A little bit about me:

I came to HBRS in 2015. I was really scared when I first got here, I didn't let anyone come close to me. But after a lot of work I learnt to trust people again. Now I love people. One of my favorite things to do is take customers out on the trails!

Breed: Quarter X Belgian

Colour: Chestnut

A little bit about me:

You all may know me as Peaches' baby. Just like her, I am working hard to keep my weight on track. I am one of the favorites in the lesson program. I love to be lazy, but don't let me fool you - I can work :) In the summer I do lots of trails because I'm a big strong boy. I am willing to do anything for you, all you have to do is ask. I hope to see you around the stable!

Breed: Halflinger

Colour: Flaxen Chestnut

A little bit about me: Don't listen to the rest.. I am the barn favorite. All 3 feet of me. I may be little in height, but I do hear that "round" is a shape, so I think this means I am in pretty good shape. I am a fancy mover, but if you are nervous, I am easy going and super quiet on the trails and in the arena. I surprised everyone by being very close to one of the fastest horses in the barn for speed events like barrel racing. And if you are afraid but still want a nice quiet ride, ask for me, the one with the longest blond mane, often found braided by children.. errr... well staff in the barn as well.
